Happy Thanksgiving Day

My oldest daughter and family should arrive this morning, then we will go to my youngest daughter's home and share their family's meal.

I have taken two pictures to represent some of my thoughts on Thanksgiving Day. The place setting is not elaborate, but is a salute to my grandmother. The Franciscan dish pattern "apple" and the clear glass turkey. Granny passed in 1957 and this glass turkey was in the family long before 1957. I saw on a blog site(sorry don't remember who) she had bought two just recently. So once again, history repeats itself. The little quilt turkey was made about 12-15 years ago. As you can see, it is made by tracing your hand and then adding details. This has been done for many years in the schools and shows a cute representation of the child at Thanksgiving.

This month for me has been bittersweet. As 11 years ago, I lost my husband on November 20th. The sorrow moves in and I push it out with gratitude for having Jim all those 30 years. Remembering the raising of our family and memories surround me once again with joy.

In my album pics, you can see my great-granddaughter. Her parents were giving her a sibling, but on November 15th the tide turned. Her mom, my granddaughter, said it best,"Our baby grew wings and is now in Heaven. God must have needed our baby to be one of his angels". Once again sorrow and then the gate opens and warmth in knowing that grandpa is loving, holding and playing with Heaven's newest angel.

May all those gone before us be remembered for all they have given us, family, tradition with love wrapped around the entire package. May all your family's celebrate and I will remember and share my thoughts and prayers with all of you that are alone, you are not alone today. Blessings, brook.
